On Sunday, Tom, the best father in law in the world, turned 60! I'm sooooo glad this man was born...not just because he's super wonderful, but without him, I wouldn't have Daryl or Mia :) Turning 60 has been a tad hard for him, but just LOOK at him! He's so handsome! Do you know he takes a 30 min nap EVERY day....Dee can't even remember him not doing it. I think it keeps him young and spry. He's also the bestest Pawpaw in the world...ask Mia.

I've been missing you alot today, but I had so much fun with PawPaw and Nana. When I got here, PawPaw set up my pool and let me fill it up with water! I don't know who got more water, me, PawPaw or the swimming pool but it sure was fun! Playing with the water made me really hungry, so Nana gave me cheese and strawberries on a puppy paper plate. Nana doesn't know how much I can eat, and she sadly underestimated. No problem though - Nana might say yes as much as PawPaw and when I said I was hungry, she gave me chicken and broccoli and more strawberries. I don't know why I was so thirsty, but Nana and PawPaw filled my sippy cup 4 times with water! Boy, did I ever fill up the diapers. Nana said something about stock in diaper companies.
I got to watch Dora and Diego while it was really hot (while me and my baby played on the slide that Nana has in her house!), then it was time for Nakie Girl swimming. But before I could swim, PawPaw noticed I was hungry again. This time I ate chicken, broccoli, strawberries and avocado! What a dinner I had. Two plates! And then PawPaw gave me a cookie. I heart PawPaw.
Swimming made me hungry - I must be going through a growth spurt! Nana made me corn....mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. I tried to get her to make me more, but she said that I probably had enough. Welll...if I didn't its her bad.......
I love you guys! Nana says you are coming to get me in two days. Don't worry - I'm in GREAT hands.... I love you mom and dad (and Mae!)
Just got back from a SUPER FAB weekend at the coast...Port O'Connor to be exact. Nana & PawPaw have a house there, and were thrilled to share it with us for the weekend. Oh, we all needed the break!
They hooked Mia up with an inflatable swimming pool for the deck. Mia went nakie and splashed and slid (YES, it has a slide!) for hours. It's a perfect distraction for when Tom, Daryl and I go fishing. We can stay out for hours knowing that between her beloved Nana and her pool, Mia would be more than content.
Saturday morning, we all hopped on the boat and went for a cruise to look for dolphin...jackpot! PawPaw knows the best places to go. We had the best time. Mia just loves sitting with her Nana looking for baby dolphins. On the way back, they 'fished' with a pole that actually didn't touch the water, but it was a fun experience :) Another cool thing going on in POC was the Warrior Weekend. Wounded Military Vets came from all around the area to be commended and fussed over. There were so many boats with American flags on them...they had each volunteered to take a vet or two fishing for the day. Wish we would have known, it was too late to sign up :(
Tom, Daryl and I took off for a beautiful afternoon of fishing. We were all so relaxed. The fish were practically jumping in the boat. We each caught many, but only took 2 gaff tops back for dinner...we let the small ones go on their merry way. Tom threw them on the grill, and everyone (except me) enjoyed them....I'm not much into eating fish...Just catching. Oh, I got to drive the boat back...fast...and was able to put it back in it's slip. I didn't hit a pole or anything...it's at a sharp angle, so everyone always taps a little...that's what the bumpers are for. He said I did the best job ever! Even better that HIM! I was proud, so were Daryl and Tom :)
Again, like whenever Nana is around, Daryl and I became chopped liver. It's all about the Nana and Pawpaw, but especially the Nana. It's so wonderful that Mia has such wonderful grandparents. Between Nana, Pawpaw and Ita, Mia's covered! Here are some shots of tNana and Mia playing together. It was a relaxing, yet full of fun weekend, and we really appreciate Tom and Dee inviting us out there and sharing their beautiful home and hearts with us. Love you guys!
We went to pick up the snapper after a weekend of fun....for us all. It was so awesome to see her again. She was a little overwhelmed to see us, so I took her into the back room, rested with her and sang songs until she settled down. It was a nice. Then she ran to her Nana for a big hug.
Daryl continued Mia's pool lessons today. I use the word lessons very loosely here. They always have fun and quit when she's ready. It's so cute how she pushes her little blue chair over so she can reach. They got a lot of dada/daughter time today, which is wonderful, because Mia and I will be away from him from Tues-Sat visiting Mia's Ita (my mom). That's the first time we've been apart for so long. I got him all weekend :)
We had loads of fun and I'm just too tired to elaborate. Here are some pics to do the talking for me.
The tree is up! It only fell on me twice. Now it's strapped and wighted, so there's nothing that will bring that thing over. At last count there were a little over 1,800 little lights on there, so the ornaments were taking second place, but just kept adding ornaments :) The mantle, counter, front table, banisters and door are all done and sparkly :)
I finished wrapping up some gifts, and got those stuck under the tree. We wanted all the decorating be be finished before Mia came home 1) to see her face when she walked it 2) because we didn't want her all twisted up in lights :)
Oh, I totally forgot something that we did yesterday. I've been wanting to go for forever, and since we were alone, we could actually go TARGET SHOOTING!!!! We saw the sign for Red's Indoor Rangeand pulled on in. The only target shooting I've ever done was at my Uncle's ranch and that was forever ago. So, we signed our waivers, got our protective ear and eye wear, rented a handgun just like Daryl's, got some ammo and went shooting! I had the best time with everything from loading the clip, firing, and re-loading. It takes a little longer than in the movies :) When we were finished, we checked out the info about a concealed handgun license. Daryl already has his. Sunday, Daryl and I finally got it together and headed out to Dripping Springs to visit with family and pick up the snapper. Joe, Melissa and Gwen were there when we got there, so we heard stories of how the girls played together. When Mia woke up , she she'd us how she chalks her cue and 'pokes' the balls on the pool table.
We hung out for the rest of the afternoon. Mia is so relaxed here, it's like her second home. Dee and Tom really engage with her, and Mia's needs, wants and desires are always met. Yes, she gets a tad bit spoiled here, but what are Nana & Paw Paw's for? Daryl was able to climb up in the attic to get cable hooked up in the pool room.
I went outside with Mia and her Paw Paw while they fed the deer that comes by everyday. Mia was excited, and they shook the bucket, but no deer. They left the food out there for him anyway. Apparently the deer meets them out there for a snack everyday!
Daryl and Mia practiced 'poking' the pool balls. She precisely chalks her cue and pokes like a pro! You have to watch the video of her saying 'poke it' it's so cute with her little voice. While on the table, she kept saying owie and I didn't know why. Later they explained that they've told Mia the lights directly above the table are very hot...so they're owies and shouldn't be touched. So, when the lights grab her attention, she says owie. What great grandparents she has!
Dee and I worked together and created a wonderful dinner of Cornish hens with a mushroom gravy, baked potatoes, corn and broccoli with cheese. Tom raved about my gravy...he's a picky one, so I was very pleased that he enjoyed it. Then Mia, Nana and I played 'clean up' with Mia and got the house back to something pretty close to normal. I'm sure they'll find Lego's and things around in the days to come. When we got home, all the Christmas lights were on, and Mia was just thrilled. She loved the tree and all it's decorations, she wasn't really into the stockings, but dig enjoy the snow globe and Santa area....oh, and the banister going upstairs. Mia and her Dada checked out the tree and the gifts...but the gifts are still wrapped! :) All the decorations on the bottom are shatterproof. Once told that she could gently 'touch' things and not remove them from the tree, she followed the rules very well.
